Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza denounced on Monday that the Colombian government has transformed its country into a «center of conspiracy against democracy and peace in Venezuela,» and a nation that protects corruption and crime.
«The historic shame of Cain of America,» said the chancellor in his official Twitter account after a message posted by President Juan Manuel Santos expressing his government’s willingness to protect the former prosecutor Luisa Ortega Diaz, a fugitive from Venezuelan justice.
Luisa Ortega Diaz fled Venezuela, with her husband, German Ferrer, who faces a case for allegedly being linked to an extortion network of the Public Prosecutor’s Office during his wife’s management.
«With a cynical decision on the ex-prosecutor, a fugitive from justice, the Government of Juan Manuel Santos protects corruption and crime in Venezuela. What can be expected from a government that welcomes in his oligarchic home the head of the 2002 coup d’etat against Commander Chavez?» wrote the head of Venezuelan diplomacy.
Temer and Carter
Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza also rejected the meddling statements against the national sovereignty of Horacio Carter, president of Paraguay, and Michel Temer, who took power in Brazil.
During a bilateral meeting in Brasilia, Carter and Temer criticized the sovereign decision of the Venezuelans to elect 545 members of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) in a universal, free and secret ballot to preserve the peace and stability of the nation, threatened by the national right, with support of the international oligarchy.
«Messrs. Cartes and Temer: Two dinosaurs of politics get together and conspire against Venezuelan democracy. We reject their unworthy conduct,» he said, adding that the two «lack the moral to speak of democracy.»
